Wound Management Resource Program

The Wound Management Resource Program is a step by step modularised wound education course which enables the learner to develop practical skills in wound management and resource development.

This program is the equivalent of 130 hours of learning and has received endorsement from Wounds Australia.

Target Audience

  • Registered, Enrolled Nurses and other qualified health care professionals practicing in an environment where wound care skills are needed.

Course Delivery

The course is divided into 3 modules of online learning plus associated clinical assessment activities. The following areas are covered:

  • Anatomy, physiology and factors affecting wound healing
  • Patient and wound assessment
  • Wound infection and infection control
  • Pressure injuries
  • Surgical wounds
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Lower leg ulceration
  • The high risk foot
  • Professional practice and evidence-based practice

Webinars with wound management specialists supplements the program. A Clinical skills workshop is available for organisational group bookings in consultation with WLE.

ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATION

The Wound Management Resource Program encompasses both formative and summative assessments throughout. Formative assessments allow students to evaluate their knowledge and skills against program learning outcomes. Summative assessments evaluate students understanding of key program learning outcomes and application to clinical practice environment.

On completion of the program, certification is provided by William Light Education with Wounds Australia endorsement. An option to complete individual modules without endorsements is available.
